White Niggers
Chapter 34

Tim's flat, Helmut-Qualtinger Hof, Daringergasse 12-20, 19th district of Vienna
Zoe still won't leave Timur alone. He suspects that she is attracted to him.
At a distance too large for her to hear them, a Balkan young woman is talking on the phone in a mix of German and Croatian.
"What about her?" Zoe says.
She points at the woman with her glass.
"If I was deaf, we could have had a bright and beautiful love," Timur says.
"I don't get it," Zoe says.
"Don't you hear how she talks?" Timur says. "That's disgusting. It's like barking and belching. It's even worse than the way the Austrians talk."
"What a delicate person you are!" Zoe says. "And very picky. Too picky!"
"If you've driven a Mercedes, you won't settle easily with a Zaporozhets," Timur says.
"Lisa is the Mercedes?" Zoe says.
"Even better," Timur says. "I'd say she is a Bentley."
"Have you already 'driven' her?" Zoe says.
"That's none of your business," Timur says. "Why are so interested in my personal life, Zoe?"
Zoe does not answer.
Timur sees two people at the door to the flat: a man carrying a thermal bag holds the door for a young, flat-breasted brunette.
On one side of her head, the hair is shaven. She has multiple tattoos and a nose piercing. She wears a backpack with all sorts of patches and pins on it – "Refugees are welcome", rainbow flag, BLM, and something about climate change. She wears a T-shirt with a print of Greta Thunberg.
"Why don't you stick that macho posturing where the sun doesn't shine?" the woman says.
"Just common courtesy," the man says. "Nothing to get upset about."
"I won't budge," the woman says. "I won't obey a male chauvinist, especially such a loser."
"Okay," the man says.
He goes through the door towards the kitchen.
"Your body odor is as toxic as your masculinity!" the woman shouts after him.
"Here is another candidate," Zoe says to Timur.
She gestures with her glass at the woman who entered the flat after the delivery guy.
"If she was male, she'd probably be a Brony," Timur says.
"If the grandma had testicles, she would be a grandpa," Zoe says. "She is an independent woman who does not abide by the beauty standards of some Caucasian redneck!"
"Even if I am a redneck, it doesn't mean I'm wrong," Timur says. "Look at her – tattoos, piercings. Tattooing a female body is like drawing graffiti with feces on the walls of the St. Stephen's Cathedral."
Zoe shakes her head.
"White women aren't good enough for you, either?" she says.
"In order for the engine of a family to start, it must be ignited with a spark." Timur says. "What can it spark, if she fails the first sniff test?"
"What sniff test?" Zoe says.
"If you want to know a person, just look how he or she treats those who are below her," Timur says. "I've seen enough."
"What a connoisseur of women you are!" Zoe says.
The brunette with partly-shaven hair gets a glass of water from the waiter. Then she looks around, locates Zoe, and walks to her and Timur.
Zoe introduces the woman as Irmgard.
"I'll leave you two lovebirds alone," Zoe says.
She walks away towards Lisa, who has just stopped talking with her classmates.
